Ten students who appeared in the MDCAT have approached the Sindh High Court. They have requested the release of the exam question paper and official answer keys.
The students also asked the court to stop the final merit list and medical college admissions. They want these processes paused until their concerns are addressed.
Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri filed the petition on behalf of the students. Six parties have been named as respondents in the case.
The respondents include the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Sukkur IBA University, and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.
The petitioners have asked the authorities to upload the MDCAT question paper and answer keys. They want both documents made available within three days.
The students said they need the original question paper to properly review their answers. They also want an opportunity to identify possible errors in the official answer keys.
The MDCAT was conducted on September 20. After completing the examination, candidates received carbon copies of their answer sheets.
However, candidates were not allowed to take the original question paper with them. Some students reportedly asked examination staff for copies of the paper.
Their requests were refused, according to the petition. The students argue that this has made it difficult to review their performance.
They also said candidates cannot properly compare their answers without access to the original questions. This could make it harder to identify disputed answers in the key.
The petitioners want the authorities to make the complete exam material public. They believe this would allow candidates to review their answers more accurately.
The students have also raised concerns about the impact of answer key errors. A small change in marks can affect a candidate’s position on the merit list.
Advocate Dahri told the court that even a few marks can influence admission chances. Medical college admissions are highly dependent on candidates’ merit positions.
The petition therefore seeks a temporary halt to the merit list process. It also seeks a pause in medical college admissions until the documents are released.
The students have asked the court to direct the relevant authorities to publish the question paper. They have also requested the publication of the official answer keys.
According to the petition, greater access to examination material would improve transparency. It would also give candidates a chance to raise objections through the proper process.
