Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate several major road projects in the coming months. Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan shared the update during a National Highway Authority review meeting.
The projects include the Lodhran-Multan Expressway, Peshawar Northern Bypass, and Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad Motorway expansion. According to the minister, work on these projects is nearing completion.
The projects are expected to be ready before their planned inaugurations. Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the completed schemes after the required construction work finishes.
The meeting reviewed progress on ongoing and proposed National Highway Authority projects. Officials also discussed road safety, revenue generation, development programmes, and financial matters.
Major Highway Projects Near Completion
The Lodhran-Multan Expressway is among the projects expected to be completed soon. The route is intended to improve connectivity between important areas of southern Punjab.
The Peshawar Northern Bypass is another major project included in the upcoming inauguration schedule. The bypass is expected to support traffic movement around Peshawar.
The expansion of the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad Motorway was also discussed. The project forms part of efforts to improve existing motorway infrastructure.
Aleem Khan said the projects were progressing toward completion. He added that the prime minister would inaugurate them once they are ready.
Work Continues on Other Major Routes
The communications minister also provided an update on the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway. He said construction work on the project was progressing rapidly.
The meeting also reviewed developments on the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Pakistan Expressway, known as N-25. Construction work has started on the important route.
The N-25 is expected to improve road connectivity along a major transport corridor. It will connect important areas across Balochistan and support movement along the route.
Officials also briefed the minister about funding arrangements for the M-6 Motorway. The meeting reviewed development schemes under the Public Sector Development Programme.
NHA projects across all four provinces were also discussed during the meeting. Financial matters and implementation progress formed part of the review.
Minister Orders Action on Lahore-Gujranwala Road
Aleem Khan also expressed concern over the poor condition of the Lahore-Gujranwala GT Road. He directed the NHA to take immediate measures to improve the route.
The minister asked officials to provide relief to people travelling on the road. The directive comes amid concerns about road conditions and their impact on commuters.
The Lahore-Gujranwala route is an important road link between major urban and commercial centres. Improvements could help provide smoother travel for road users.
Shehbaz Sharif to Oversee Road Development Push
The upcoming inaugurations are part of wider road development activity across Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally open the completed projects in the coming months.
