The glamorous wedding celebrations for Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant resumed Saturday with a star-studded guest list. Hollywood celebrities, global business leaders, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among the attendees. The couple, both 29, tied the knot in Mumbai after months of pre-marriage festivities, setting a new benchmark for matrimonial extravagance.
Saturday’s itinerary included a blessing ceremony at the Ambani family’s 16,000-capacity convention centre, where the world’s rich and famous gathered to greet the newlyweds. Footage shared by local broadcasters showed Modi among the guests paying their respects.
The event followed a formal ceremony and party on Friday attended by celebrities like socialite Kim Kardashian and former British premiers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson. Other notable guests included FIFA boss Gianni Infantino and Samsung chairman Jay Y Lee.
The weekend’s celebrations concluded with a reception party on Sunday, capping months of extravagant pre-wedding festivities. Earlier events included a party at the Ambanis’ ancestral home featuring a purpose-built Hindu temple and private performances by R&B star Rihanna and Canada’s Justin Bieber. Guests at that gala included Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and former US president Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, along with prominent figures from India’s sporting and entertainment worlds.
In June, the couple embarked on a four-day Mediterranean cruise with 1,200 guests, featuring a masquerade ball at a French chateau in Cannes where singer Katy Perry performed.
