The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on August 20 to mark the annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the revered Sufi poet. The holiday, confirmed by an official notification issued on Friday, will be observed across the province. The Urs celebrations, which honor Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, will start on 14 Safar in the Islamic calendar and last for three days.

The Urs is a major spiritual and cultural event held at Bhit Shah, where the Sufi saint is buried. It attracts large crowds and features recitations of Bhitai’s poetry, Sufi music, and various cultural performances, highlighting Sindh’s rich heritage.
