The Sindh College Education Department has reduced college operating hours by one hour. The change took effect immediately under a new circular issued on September 9.
The revised schedule applies to colleges following a five-day working week. The department said the new timings will remain effective until further orders.
According to the circular, all other instructions from the previous notification will continue to apply. Colleges have been directed to follow the updated schedule without changes.
For morning-shift colleges, classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. from Monday to Thursday. The morning shift will now end at 1:30 p.m.
Friday will have shorter hours for morning-shift colleges. Classes will run from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
The revised morning schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The evening shift will also follow reduced operating hours. From Monday to Thursday, colleges will remain open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On Friday, evening-shift colleges will operate from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. This will provide a shorter schedule for students and staff on the final working day.
The revised evening schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Thursday: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday: 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Sindh College Education Department has instructed principals to ensure strict compliance. Concerned field officers have also been asked to monitor implementation.
Educational authorities must also share the revised schedule with colleges. This will help institutions follow the new timings without confusion.
The department did not announce any changes to other conditions in the earlier circular. Therefore, existing instructions will continue unless new directions are issued.
The Sindh government has recently adjusted educational schedules in response to administrative requirements. The latest decision specifically affects college timings across the province.
Students and teaching staff are expected to follow the updated hours from September 9. Colleges will continue operating under the five-day weekly schedule.
