Petrol prices in Pakistan are set to decrease starting October 16, according to reliable sources. The government is likely to reduce the price of petrol by Rs6.10 per litre, offering relief to consumers amid rising fuel costs.
In addition to petrol, high-speed diesel is expected to fall by 97 paisa per litre. Other petroleum products will also see reductions. Kerosene may drop by Rs2.75 per litre, while light diesel oil could become cheaper by Rs1.64 per litre.
The petroleum industry has completed all calculations for price adjustments and submitted them to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). OGRA will review the submissions and prepare a summary of proposed changes.
The summary will be sent to the Petroleum Division, which will forward it to the Ministry of Finance. After reviewing the recommendations and consulting with the Prime Minister, the Ministry will approve the new petrol prices. Officials expect the final announcement to be made tomorrow.
This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize fuel costs and respond to global fluctuations in oil prices. The reduction in petrol prices is expected to provide some financial relief to commuters and businesses across Pakistan.
Industry experts believe that these adjustments reflect careful monitoring of the international oil market and domestic demand. The government aims to balance affordability for consumers with sustainable energy sector policies.
