The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore on Monday announced its verdict in two high-profile cases, sentencing several senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to 10 years in prison, while acquitting former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Qureshi was cleared of charges in both cases, a decision seen as a major relief for the senior PTI figure. In contrast, party leaders Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhary, Mehmood ur Rasheed, and Sarfraz Cheema each received 10-year prison sentences in both cases.

The cases, registered as 103/23 and 768/23, stem from incidents including the Shadman Nazra Atish case and the torching of a police vehicle at Rahat Bakery Chowk.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the Anti-Terrorism Court delivered the judgment in a jail courtroom, with both detained and bailed accused present during the proceedings.

This ruling is a notable development in the ongoing legal proceedings against PTI leaders and is likely to carry significant political repercussions.

This decision announced ater it was expected that IHC to release PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi
