The case pertains to the May 9, 2023, attack on GHQ’s gate, with PTI founder Imran Khan and others named as accused. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Riaz, the complainant, testified that forensic evidence—including DVDs and USBs obtained from PEMRA and FIA—proved PTI’s involvement in anti-state propaganda.

Chaos in Courtroom
The proceedings were marred by protests from defense lawyers, prompting Judge Amjad Ali Shah to issue contempt notices. The lawyers demanded the presence of senior counsel Salman Akram Raja, but the prosecution objected, alleging Raja intended to orchestrate protests from jail.

Prosecutor Zaheer Abbas Shah claimed Imran Khan planned nationwide protests from Adiala Jail, and Raja’s involvement would further “conspiracies against state institutions.” The judge barred political consultations during trial hours.

Delayed Proceedings
Due to disruptions, two prosecution witnesses couldn’t testify. The court adjourned until June 21 and summoned Rawalpindi’s SSP Investigations for unexplained absence.

PTI’s Imran Khan was produced in court, while senior leaders—including Shibli Faraz and Fawad Chaudhry—attended the hearing.
