In the past 24 hours, 27 more inmates have been captured, and some prisoners are returning voluntarily. One such inmate, Muhammad Asif—jailed for theft—was brought back by his maternal uncle.

Asif told the media that the jailbreak occurred after strong earthquake tremors triggered panic among inmates and damaged part of the prison wall. With the barrack doors left open, prisoners escaped through the main gate.

Authorities have compiled profiles of all escaped inmates and are conducting raids at their residences. Jail officials stated that those who return voluntarily will be treated with leniency, but strict action will be taken against those who continue to evade arrest.

Normalcy has now returned to Malir Jail, and visitation restrictions have been lifted.v
