NDMA Issues Weather Alert for Parts of Punjab, Islamabad, and KP

ISLAMABAD – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory, forecasting isolated showers, thunderstorms, windstorms, and dust storms in parts of Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 12 to 36 hours.

According to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), strong winds and thunderstorms may uproot weak trees, damage fragile structures and rooftops, and cause temporary power outages. Dust storms are expected to reduce visibility, posing a significant risk to road safety and threatening infrastructure, vehicles, and electrical installations.

The NDMA has urged residents to:

  • Avoid unnecessary outdoor travel
  • Secure loose objects and temporary structures
  • Stay away from trees, billboards, and other unstable elements
  • Park vehicles in covered, safe areas
Regions at Risk

In Punjab and Islamabad, vulnerable areas include:

  • Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Narowal, and adjacent localities.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affected districts may include:

  • Chitral, Battagram, Kohistan, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, and nearby areas.
Public Safety Measures

The NDMA recommends the public to download the “Pak NDMA Alert App” for real-time weather updates and safety advisories. The authority emphasized that it is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with local agencies to ensure swift response and public safety.
