Toyota Corolla Receives Stylish Redesign with Enhanced Looks and Improved Handling

Toyota has refreshed the Corolla Cross for the 2026 model year, introducing styling updates along with a new GR Sport trim that adds a sportier character to the compact SUV. While the engine remains the same, changes to the exterior, interior, and suspension aim to deliver a sharper driving experience without compromising practicality.

The most notable addition is the GR Sport variant, which features aesthetic upgrades such as exclusive 19-inch black alloy wheels, leather and Alcantara seats with red stitching, and a black headliner for a more dynamic cabin feel. Across the lineup, Toyota has updated the front grille with a new honeycomb pattern and sleeker headlamps. Higher trims now come with a full-width LED light bar, while redesigned taillights include small aerodynamic fins that are claimed to improve vehicle stability. New 18-inch wheels are standard on most models.

Inside, the cabin has been modernized with a redesigned center console and gear shifter. The dashboard now includes a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include dual-zone climate control and a wireless charging pad.

Under the hood, the Corolla Cross retains its 2.0-liter flex-fuel engine producing 175 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) featuring 10 simulated gears. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 121 mph. Toyota has improved driving dynamics by lowering the suspension, enhancing steering response, and adding paddle shifters. Sport and Snow drive modes have also been introduced to help adapt to different road conditions.

Safety remains a key focus, with the Corolla Cross equipped with seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, stability and traction control, and automatic emergency braking.

The 2026 model maintains a length of 175.6 inches, offers seating for five passengers, and provides 15.5 cubic feet of cargo space. The fuel tank capacity is 12.4 gallons, and the vehicle’s curb weight is 3,131 pounds. The updates position the Corolla Cross as a more refined and sporty option in the compact SUV segment while preserving its practicality and reliability.
