Lahore Opens 3 New Commercial License Centers for Rickshaws

The Lahore Traffic Police has expanded commercial driving license services for rickshaw drivers by opening three additional licensing centers across the city.

According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, rickshaw drivers can now obtain commercial driving licenses from four locations: Manawan, Ichhra Licensing Center Town, Greater Iqbal Park, and Wapda Town.

The newly added centers will operate from Thursday to Sunday, making it easier for drivers to access licensing services without traveling long distances.

Previously, commercial licenses for rickshaw drivers were issued only at the Manawan center, resulting in increased workload and longer waiting times. Officials believe the expansion will reduce congestion, improve service delivery, and save time for applicants.

The CTO said the initiative is part of efforts to make licensing services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly while encouraging greater compliance with traffic regulations.

In addition to the expanded licensing network, Lahore Traffic Police has announced plans to install QR-code-based panic buttons in licensed rickshaws to enhance passenger safety and improve emergency response capabilities.

Officials said the latest measures are aimed at modernizing transport services and providing greater convenience and security for both drivers and passengers.
