Ministry Of Economic Affairs’ X Account Hacked, Probe Underway

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs was hacked late Thursday night, prompting swift action from authorities. A ministry spokesperson confirmed the breach, clarifying that any posts made during the incident are not affiliated with the ministry and should be disregarded by the public.

The hacking comes amid heightened cyber threat alerts. The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PakCERT) had previously warned government institutions of potential cyberattacks, especially in light of rising tensions between Pakistan and India, and had urged strict adherence to enhanced security protocols.

A formal investigation into the breach has been launched, with cybersecurity teams actively working to secure the ministry’s account and prevent similar incidents moving forward.
