Pakistan Railways will run four special trains starting from the 25th of Ramadan to accommodate passengers traveling for Eid, Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced on Monday. Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Abbasi assured that the public would soon notice improvements in railway services as the department works to enhance its performance.
The minister acknowledged the financial challenges faced by Pakistan Railways but vowed to take steps to reduce the deficit. Abbasi also addressed the issue of faulty baggage scanning machines at railway stations, promising that a meeting would be held soon to resolve the problem and improve railway security measures, which he admitted were currently inadequate.

The announcement follows Abbasi’s recent induction into the federal cabinet, where he has taken charge of the Railways Ministry. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading railway operations in line with the prime minister’s directives.
Additionally, Pakistan Railways had earlier revised working hours for reservation offices during Ramadan. Morning shifts will run from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, while evening shifts will operate from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. These changes will remain in effect until the 15th of Ramadan, after which the offices will revert to their usual schedules.
