Rs4,000 Petrol Subsidy Payment Scheduled for June

The federal government has decided to distribute the fifth and sixth installments of the petrol subsidy programme during June 2026, offering financial assistance to people affected by rising fuel costs.

The decision was taken during a review meeting held in Islamabad and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Senior officials examined the progress of the relief initiative and discussed measures to improve its implementation across the country.

According to an official statement, the meeting focused on the performance of the petrol subsidy programme, which was introduced to reduce the burden of increased fuel prices caused by regional tensions and disruptions in supply chains. The scheme is designed to support vulnerable groups, including motorcyclists, public transport operators, vehicle owners, and farmers.

Officials informed the meeting that four installments had already been successfully distributed over the previous two months. These payments were made on a biweekly basis, helping beneficiaries cope with the financial impact of higher fuel expenses.

Under the latest phase of the programme, eligible recipients will receive a combined payment of Rs4,000 through the fifth and sixth installments scheduled for June. The government hopes the additional support will provide much-needed relief to households and businesses facing rising transportation and operational costs.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements related to transparency, accountability, and coordination with provincial administrations. Officials stressed the importance of ensuring that subsidy payments are delivered efficiently and reach all deserving beneficiaries without delays.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far, Ishaq Dar instructed relevant departments to maintain close cooperation and strengthen monitoring systems. He emphasized that effective oversight is essential to ensure the petrol subsidy reaches the intended recipients and achieves its objectives.

The session was attended by Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa, the Petroleum Secretary, chief secretaries from all provinces, and other senior government representatives.

The petrol subsidy programme remains a key government initiative aimed at providing targeted relief to vulnerable sections of society as fuel prices continue to place pressure on household budgets and economic activity.
