The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall across Punjab from March 2 to March 4, offering relief from rising temperatures as the holy month of Ramadan begins. The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that most districts in the province, including major cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, will experience showers, providing a cooler start to Ramadan.
Districts expected to be affected include Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, and Mianwali, along with southern areas such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur. Hilly regions like Murree and Galyat are also forecasted to receive a mix of rain and snowfall, adding to the weather shifts.

PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Khatia has alerted local authorities to remain vigilant, emphasizing preparedness for possible disruptions. Key departments, such as Rescue, Irrigation, and WASA, have been placed on alert to deal with emergencies, and citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during this period. The PDMA’s helpline (1129) is also operational for assistance.
Lahore, which has already seen a temperature drop following recent rains, is expected to remain cool and dry in the coming days, with more rain arriving by March 3. The city recently recorded a low of 10°C, providing further relief from the early spring heat.
Meanwhile, the PMD has also warned of rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Districts like Swat, Dir, and Chitral are expected to experience persistent conditions until March 4, with the PDMA urging local administrations to take necessary precautions against potential hazards.
