Fakhar Zaman Opens Up About Health Struggles, Looks Forward to Champions Trophy

Pakistan’s opening batter Fakhar Zaman has shared details about his recent health issues, revealing that he lost 10 kg due to hyperthyroidism, which affected his muscle strength and overall fitness. Speaking on the PCB Podcast with Salman Butt, Fakhar clarified that he was not injured, but rather battling an illness that took him out of action.

“It wasn’t an injury; I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which caused a significant weight loss and weakened my muscles,” Fakhar explained, adding that it took time for him to fully recover and regain his form. He reassured fans that he is now completely healthy, although his return to domestic cricket was challenging at first.

Fakhar also expressed his excitement for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, recalling that the previous edition marked the start of his international career. “I will do my best to make this Champions Trophy even more memorable for myself and the team,” he said.

Discussing his mindset for matches against India, Fakhar said he treats them like any other game. He also supported Babar Azam’s move to the opening position, believing it would help both the team and his own performance. Finally, Fakhar highlighted the importance of Pakistan hosting such a major tournament, calling it a proud moment for the nation.
