The Islamabad High Court has granted bail to Bushra Bibi in the Tosha Khana case, drawing comparisons to the Justice Qazi Faiz Isa case. During the proceedings, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb noted similarities between the two cases, particularly how a husband was held accountable for his wife’s actions in the Isa case.
The court approved Bushra Bibi’s bail application and ordered her release upon depositing a surety of one million rupees. Justice Aurangzeb questioned the reasoning behind implicating the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party if Bushra Bibi had not submitted the gifts in question. He pointed out the parallels with the Isa case, emphasizing the implications of holding spouses responsible for each other’s actions.

FIA prosecutor Umeer Majeed argued that state officials must declare and submit gifts received, stating that such gifts remain state property unless legally purchased. Justice Aurangzeb also referenced international practices, noting that world leaders often retain gifts according to established guidelines.
The court highlighted the importance of accurately estimating the value of these gifts, suggesting the necessity of proper auctions for valuation. Justice Aurangzeb shared insights from his visit to a museum in Azerbaijan, where gifts were displayed alongside images of past leaders.
The court’s decision to grant bail offers temporary relief for Bushra Bibi as the legal proceedings continue.
