Arrest Warrant Issued for Sahil Adeem Over Derogatory Remarks on Sindhis

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate has issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of social media influencer Sahil Adeem in connection with a defamation case. Judicial Magistrate (South) Sher Muhammad issued the warrant after the investigating officer, Waqar Ahmed, submitted a final charge sheet against Adeem.

He faces charges under Sections 153 (promoting enmity between different groups), 505(1)(c) (intent to incite), and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Pakistan Penal Code, alongside Section 512 (record of evidence in absence of accused) of the criminal procedure code. The magistrate has ordered the investigating officer to arrest Adeem and present him in court by September 24.

The case was registered on July 12 based on a complaint by Advocate Abdul Fatah, who accused Adeem of “hurting the sentiments of the Sindhi community” through controversial remarks made in one of his videos. The complainant alleged that Adeem’s comments attempted to incite conflict between Sindhis and Punjabis.

Adeem had previously secured protective bail from the Islamabad High Court on July 15, which allowed him 15 days to respond against a surety bond of Rs20,000. However, he has not yet joined the investigation or surrendered to the Karachi court, according to the investigating officer’s report.

Additionally, PPP lawmaker Marvi Faseeh has introduced a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against Adeem for his alleged derogatory remarks about women during the TV show “Mukalma.”
