A new agreement between Pakistani and US-based education foundations could create professional opportunities in the United States for Pakistani nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals.
The American Pakistan Education Foundation and Pakistan Education Foundation are set to sign a memorandum of understanding in New York.
The agreement will establish cooperation in medical education, professional training, certification and career development for Pakistani healthcare professionals.
The initiative will also help qualified professionals understand and meet US licensing and professional requirements.
It could provide new pathways for Pakistani nurses and other healthcare workers seeking employment opportunities in the United States.
Under the agreement, the American Pakistan Education Foundation will seek partnerships with US hospitals, healthcare systems and nursing facilities.
The foundation will also approach educational institutions and professional organizations interested in hiring qualified healthcare workers from Pakistan.
Pakistan Education Foundation will identify nurses and other healthcare professionals interested in education and professional opportunities in the United States.
It will support candidates with exam preparation, licensing procedures, documentation and other requirements needed for professional placement.
The initiative builds on the Pakistan Education Foundation’s NCLEX Nurse Placement Program, which has already attracted thousands of registrations across Pakistan.
According to the details, around 2,759 nurses registered for the program nationwide. Following the selection process, 300 nurses were chosen for training.
More than 80 nurses have already obtained NCLEX licenses, while over 220 candidates are currently going through the examination process.
The program was launched with support from New York State Assembly Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos. Representatives of the American Pakistan Education Foundation have also visited Pakistan twice.
Their visits focused on nursing education, healthcare workforce development and cooperation between institutions in Pakistan and the United States.
The new agreement could expand opportunities beyond nursing. It may also support scholarships, professional training, faculty development and exchange programs.
A joint working group is expected to oversee future cooperation under the proposed framework.
The initiative could provide qualified Pakistani healthcare professionals with greater support as they pursue international careers.
