The recent snowfall led to an unprecedented influx of visitors to Murree and the Galyat region, causing severe traffic congestion and bringing the mountain resort city to a standstill.
The administration reported a significant surge in traffic, with thousands of vehicles entering the region, resulting in a challenging situation as Murree and surrounding areas were blanketed with heavy snow. Over the past 24 hours, Murree received more than 10 inches of snow, leaving popular tourist destinations covered in a thick layer of snow and causing immense difficulties for visitors.

The excessive traffic led to extensive jams, making it difficult for vehicles to navigate the slippery roads, particularly on the Murree Expressway. The Highway Authority and local administration are currently engaged in efforts to clear the roads of snow, but the sheer volume of snowfall has posed a considerable challenge.
With the surge in tourist numbers, hotel rates in the region skyrocketed, making it challenging for visitors to find accommodations at reasonable prices. The record-breaking tourist influx has created a strain on local infrastructure and resources.
Tourists have been cautioned to exercise caution due to the increased risk of landslides in the upper regions, exacerbated by heavy downpours and snowfall. The Met Office has predicted that snowfall is likely to persist intermittently in upper parts, with Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan expected to experience thundershowers and snowfall. Additionally, heavy rain and snowfall are anticipated at various locations on Thursday.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
