The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has revised the parking requirement for commercial buildings in Islamabad during its ongoing three-day auction of commercial plots, reducing the mandatory provision from one parking space per 750 square feet of covered area to one parking space per 1,000 square feet.
The revised standard will apply to all commercial plots included in the current auction as well as future auctions. According to a public notice issued by the CDA, the decision was taken following requests from builders, developers, and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), after consultations with relevant stakeholders.
The authority said the updated parking policy had already been communicated through social media, news reports, and other public platforms. It added that the formal notice was issued in the interest of investors, developers, and the general public.
Meanwhile, the CDA’s three-day commercial plot auction at the Jinnah Convention Centre has generated strong investor interest. During the first two days, the authority collected Rs16.438 billion through the sale of commercial properties.
On the second day, Agro Farm No. 18 on Murree Road was auctioned for Rs1.212 billion, while Agro Farm No. 17-A fetched Rs966 million. The authority also sold several built-up shops at the Blue Area Parking Plaza, including Shop No. 8-A for Rs152.646 million, Shop No. 10-A for Rs147.706 million, and Shop No. 12-A for Rs153.634 million.
According to the auction results, the second day’s sales generated Rs2.632 billion, following Rs13.807 billion collected on the opening day of the event.
Chairman of the Auction Committee Muhammad Umair said the auction offers investors an opportunity to acquire commercial properties in the federal capital. He added that the revenue generated will be used to improve Islamabad’s infrastructure, complete major development projects, enhance civic services, and address the city’s water-related challenges.
He further said that all successful bids will undergo detailed scrutiny before being submitted to the CDA Board, which will make the final decision on approving or rejecting the bids.
