[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The 15-member strong squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to be held in India, has been unveiled by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) organization.
In this announced roster, Dasun Shanaka has been designated as the captain for the prestigious tournament, with Kusal Mendis taking on the role of vice-captain.
Unfortunately, the star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been excluded from the squad due to an injury he sustained during the recently concluded Lankan Premier League.

The SLC had initially expressed its commitment to ensure his participation but also acknowledged the possibility of him being sidelined from cricket for a duration of three months. Wanindu Hasaranga had played a pivotal role in the June and July World Cup Qualifiers, which helped Sri Lanka secure their spot in the main event in India with a victory.

It’s worth noting that Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin their World Cup 2023 campaign against South Africa on October 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
