PKR Extends Winning Streak Against US Dollar to 215 Days

The PKR continued its positive performance against the US dollar on Friday, recording gains for the 215th consecutive trading day. The Pakistani rupee strengthened by one paisa and closed at 277.71 against the US dollar, extending a steady upward trend that has continued since December 25, 2025.

The latest movement highlights the continued stability of the local currency in the foreign exchange market. Although the gain was small, the PKR maintained its long-running streak, reflecting consistent performance over the past several months.

Market participants noted that money markets remained relatively calm during the trading session. Analysts also pointed to easing tensions in Azad Kashmir as one of the factors supporting improved market sentiment. Stable market conditions often help reduce pressure on the local currency and support confidence among investors.

The PKR also showed mixed performance against other major international currencies. It remained unchanged against the UAE Dirham (AED), indicating stability in that currency pair. However, the rupee slipped by one paisa against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).

Against European currencies, the Pakistani rupee posted stronger gains. It appreciated by 51 paisas against the Euro (EUR), reflecting one of the biggest improvements of the day. The rupee also strengthened by 28 paisas against the British Pound (GBP), continuing its positive movement against major global currencies.

The local currency recorded gains against other international currencies as well. It appreciated by 17 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and gained 22 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). These improvements further reflected the PKR‘s stable performance during Friday’s trading session.

Among Asian currencies, the rupee remained almost unchanged against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). However, it recorded a slight decline against the Chinese Yuan (CNY), showing a mixed trend in regional currency movements.

Currency exchange rates continue to change daily based on market demand, global economic conditions, foreign exchange reserves, trade flows, and investor confidence. Domestic and international developments also influence movements in the value of the Pakistani rupee.

The ongoing strength of the PKR against the US dollar has attracted attention because the currency has remained on a positive path for more than seven months. Since December 25, 2025, the rupee has consistently recorded gains against the dollar, marking one of its longest positive streaks in recent years.

Financial experts note that exchange rate stability is important for businesses, importers, exporters, and investors. A stable currency can help reduce uncertainty in international trade and improve confidence in the overall economy.

At the same time, currency movements remain subject to changing economic conditions. Global oil prices, international financial markets, foreign investment, and monetary policies can all affect exchange rates over time.

The latest trading session once again demonstrated the resilience of the PKR in the foreign exchange market. While daily gains may appear modest, maintaining a positive trend over a long period is viewed as a significant development.
