Bird strikes are a serious problem for airlines since they result in financial losses and the temporary grounding of impacted planes. According to a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) assessment, both domestic and foreign airlines operating in Pakistan have suffered financial setbacks as a result of bird strikes. This is mostly due to insufficient sanitation measures and delays in establishing airport bird control devices.

Bird strikes impacted 48 flights belonging to domestic and international airlines between January and May 2022, resulting in financial damages. There were 662 documented bird strike occurrences in Pakistan between January 2018 and May 2022.

The Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore had the most incidents, with 198, followed by Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, which had 192. Other airports, such as those in Islamabad, Sialkot, Peshawar, Multan, and Quetta, have also reported a high number of bird strikes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
