The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering an inter-district BRT service on motorways. The proposed project aims to improve connections between Peshawar and other districts.

The service could connect Peshawar with Mardan, Nowshera and Swat. It would use the existing motorway network to provide faster inter-district travel.

The proposal is still under consideration by the provincial government. Authorities have not finalized the routes, costs or station locations.

The Transport Department will conduct a feasibility study for the proposed service. The study will examine several technical and financial aspects of the project.

Officials will assess the estimated cost of launching the BRT service. They will also identify suitable routes for buses operating between the districts.

The feasibility study will examine possible locations for BRT stations. Other operational requirements will also be reviewed during the assessment.

The proposed BRT system could offer another public transport option for passengers. Thousands of people travel between Peshawar and nearby districts every day.

Officials believe using motorways could make the service more convenient. They said motorway routes may be easier to operate than the Grand Trunk Road.

The proposed system could help reduce travel difficulties between Peshawar and surrounding districts. It may also provide passengers with a more organized transport option.

The existing motorway network already connects several important areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The M-1 links Peshawar with Nowshera and provides connections toward Mardan and other areas.

The Swat Motorway also connects Nowshera with areas toward Swat. Its route passes through districts including Mardan and Swat.

These existing road connections could support the proposed inter-district transport plan. However, the final design will depend on the feasibility study.

The BRT concept is different from the existing urban BRT system in Peshawar. The current system primarily serves passengers within the Peshawar metropolitan area.

The proposed service would focus on longer inter-district journeys. It would aim to connect major population centers through motorway routes.

Transport officials will need to determine suitable stops for the new service. They will also assess passenger demand and operational requirements.

The government has not announced a final launch date for the project. No final cost has been provided at this stage.

The feasibility study will provide important information before any final approval. Its findings are expected to guide decisions about routes and implementation.

If approved, the BRT service could improve public transport links across the province. It could make regular travel between Peshawar and other districts more accessible.

The project could also support economic activity by improving regional connectivity. Better transport links can help people reach workplaces, markets and other services.

However, the proposal remains at the planning stage. Further decisions will depend on the results of the feasibility assessment.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is now expected to examine the project in greater detail. The Transport Department will lead the assessment of its technical and financial requirements.

The final plan will depend on the study’s findings. Authorities will then determine whether the proposed BRT service is practical and financially viable.
