UAE Makes Police Character Certificate Mandatory for Pakistani Work Visas

The UAE has introduced a new requirement for Pakistani citizens applying for employment visas. Pakistani job seekers must now submit a police character certificate before they can complete the work visa application process.

According to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment in Islamabad, the new rule applies to all Pakistani applicants seeking work visas for the UAE. The requirement officially came into effect on July 20.

Officials said applicants must first obtain a good conduct certificate from the relevant authority in Pakistan. The document confirms the applicant’s legal record and is now a mandatory part of the employment visa process.

After receiving the certificate, applicants must have it attested by the UAE Embassy in Pakistan. Only after this attestation can the document be submitted along with the employment visa application.

The new requirement adds another step for thousands of Pakistanis who travel abroad for work each year. The UAE remains one of the most popular destinations for Pakistani workers because of the wide range of employment opportunities available across different industries.

Many Pakistanis work in sectors such as construction, healthcare, hospitality, retail, transport, and other service industries. Every year, a large number of skilled and unskilled workers move to the Gulf country to improve their career prospects and support their families.

Officials advised applicants to prepare all required documents before starting the visa application process. Completing the paperwork in advance may help reduce delays and avoid problems during visa processing.

The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment also encouraged applicants to carefully follow the updated guidelines. Missing or incomplete documents could delay the approval of employment visas.

The introduction of the police character certificate is expected to strengthen document verification during the visa process. It also adds an additional level of screening before employment visas are issued.

Applicants should obtain the certificate from the relevant Pakistani authority and complete the embassy attestation before submitting their application. Officials said following the required steps can help ensure a smoother application process.

The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment advised prospective workers to stay updated on any future changes to visa regulations. They also recommended checking all documentation requirements before applying.
