The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority has issued a final deadline of June 30 for private schools in Islamabad to submit details of students admitted under the mandatory 10 percent need-based scholarship quota.
According to a statement released by the authority, schools that fail to provide the required information by the deadline could face regulatory action. PEIRA warned that registration and renewal services for non-compliant institutions will remain restricted until they meet the requirement.
The authority also stated that the names of defaulting schools will be published on its official website and shared with relevant examination boards.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah to review implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012.
Under the law, private educational institutions are required to reserve 10 percent of admissions for deserving students through need-based scholarships.
PEIRA noted that despite repeated notices, a significant number of schools have yet to submit the required scholarship records and compliance data.
Dr. Mallah said children identified through enrollment campaigns, particularly those currently out of school, will be given priority under the scholarship scheme to improve educational access and inclusion.
The authority also announced that schools already complying with the scholarship requirement will receive letters of appreciation in recognition of their efforts to support educational opportunities for deserving students.
PEIRA reiterated its commitment to ensuring full implementation of the scholarship quota and expanding access to quality education for underprivileged children in the federal capital.
