Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has claimed that former prime minister Imran Khan has lost vision in one eye due to alleged mistreatment during his time in custody.
The statement was made while speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to Salman Akram Raja, Imran Khan has now spent nearly 1,000 days in prison and continues to face serious health concerns.
Raja alleged that the PTI founder was being denied basic constitutional and legal rights during detention.
The claim comes shortly after Imran Khan received another eye treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.
Reports said the former prime minister underwent his fourth intravitreal eye injection on April 28 as part of ongoing medical treatment.
Court documents submitted to the Supreme Court earlier stated that Khan had been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).
CRVO is considered a serious eye condition that occurs when the main vein carrying blood away from the retina becomes blocked.
Medical experts say the condition is often linked to health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol problems, and cardiovascular disease.
During the media talk, Salman Akram Raja also alleged that meetings between Imran Khan and his family members were being restricted.
He claimed that even court-approved visitation rights were not being fully implemented.
According to Raja, legal documents including vakalatnamas were facing delays and restrictions.
He further alleged that only selected individuals were being allowed to meet the PTI founder in custody.
The PTI leader also claimed that Khan’s sisters were not being granted permission for meetings despite his reported health condition.
In addition, Raja accused authorities of filing false legal cases against Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan.
He stated that some cases, including Toshakhana-related references, were based on government witness statements.
Raja said PTI had approached the Supreme Court through multiple petitions but hearings were not taking place.
He added that the party had exhausted legal options and would now continue raising the matter publicly.
During the press interaction, the PTI leader also commented on the country’s broader political and economic situation.
He claimed the economy had suffered serious damage and criticized restrictions placed on political activities.
Raja also alleged that the judiciary was under pressure and referred to the transfer of judges between provinces.
The claims made by the PTI leader have not been independently verified by government authorities or prison officials.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding the allegations about Imran Khan’s health condition or treatment in custody.
