Actor and director Hamza Ali Abbasi has publicly clarified that he is not involved in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probe concerning his elder sister, Dr Fazeela Abbasi, following widespread media and social media speculation.
Dr Fazeela is facing two serious FIRs filed by the FIA. One alleges she laundered billions of rupees through hawala and hundi networks across 22 bank accounts, while the other claims she operated an unregistered medical clinic. Investigators have highlighted that her financial transactions far exceed her declared annual income of Rs400,000–600,000, with some funds reportedly sent to the UAE and the US. Authorities are currently tracing the money and requesting supporting documents. Despite the gravity of the allegations, no arrests or convictions have been made so far.
The case intensified after an Islamabad sessions court canceled her interim bail due to her failure to appear, and the FIA successfully challenged a previous dismissal by the Islamabad High Court regarding the clinic case, bringing it back under judicial review.
Amid the ongoing investigation, Hamza Abbasi described his sister as a highly skilled and accomplished professional, emphasizing his personal support for her while maintaining professional separation. He urged the media and public to avoid linking his name to the probe and warned that he may take legal action if false associations continue to be circulated.
