The Academic Council of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved Pakistan’s first MS Stroke Intervention (Level IV) degree program to train specialists in advanced stroke treatment and endovascular procedures.
The program was approved during the council’s 43rd meeting, chaired by UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
The new degree aims to develop a highly skilled workforce in interventional neuroradiology and endovascular stroke management, supporting the expansion of comprehensive stroke centres across Punjab.
Graduates will receive specialized training in advanced catheter-based procedures used to treat acute ischemic stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders, with the goal of improving timely treatment and patient outcomes.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Rathore said the program would help address the growing demand for trained stroke intervention specialists as Punjab continues to strengthen its stroke care services.
The Academic Council also approved new PhD curricula in nursing, public health, oral biology, and medical education, along with revisions to several postgraduate and certificate programs aimed at enhancing research, clinical training
