The Islamabad district administration has imposed Section 144 across the federal capital in an effort to preserve law and order amid continuing demonstrations. The move came after protests were reported in various parts of the city, prompting authorities to introduce emergency measures to prevent further unrest.
Under Section 144, all public gatherings, rallies, and demonstrations are strictly prohibited. Officials have warned that anyone found violating the ban will face firm legal action. According to the administration, the step is essential to safeguard public safety and stop the situation from escalating.
As part of heightened security arrangements, the Red Zone has been completely sealed. This high-security area houses key government offices and several foreign missions. Additional police and security personnel have been deployed around sensitive locations to avert any untoward incidents. Authorities confirmed that the restrictions will remain in place until further notice and urged citizens to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.
Despite the ban, protests have persisted, particularly near Serena Chowk. Demonstrators gathered in significant numbers, voicing anger over reports of the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following recent US and Israeli actions against Iran. Protesters were seen chanting slogans and expressing their grievances.
To manage the crowd, police placed containers on major roads leading to Serena Chowk, effectively blocking access to sensitive areas and limiting the movement of large groups. Prisoner vans were also stationed nearby as a precautionary measure in case arrests became necessary for violations of Section 144.
Law enforcement agencies continue to closely monitor the situation, increasing patrols in surrounding areas to ensure compliance with the restrictions. Officials reiterated that the primary objective of enforcing Section 144 is to maintain peace and stability in the capital. Authorities will review the security situation in the coming days before deciding whether to extend or lift the order.
