Clashes Erupt Outside US Consulate Karachi over Khamenei Martyrdom

Violent clashes erupted outside the US Consulate on MT Khan Road on Sunday after protesters demonstrated against US and Israeli strikes that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, officials said. At least five people were injured in the unrest.

Authorities stated that demonstrators attempted to breach the consulate by throwing stones at security personnel. Police responded with heavy shelling to disperse the crowd. Rescue teams confirmed that five injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Security has been tightened in the area by local police and Rangers to prevent further violence and ensure public safety.

The protest caused major traffic disruptions, with roads from Sultanabad to Mai Kolachi closed, leading to congestion. Traffic police announced alternate routes, diverting vehicles from Jinnah Bridge to II Chundrigar Road, redirecting traffic from Boat Basin at Mai Kolachi Phatak, and turning back vehicles from PIDC.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar sought a detailed report from the Additional IG Karachi and stressed that lawlessness will not be tolerated, directing authorities to strengthen security at sensitive locations across the province
