Mohammad Yousuf Resigns from PCB Committee over Babar Azam

Former Pakistan cricket captain and ex-selection committee member Mohammad Yousuf has disclosed that he was compelled to resign from his position due to disagreements concerning star batsman Babar Azam.

Yousuf explained that after recommending a break for Babar to help him regain form, he faced strong opposition and criticism from within the cricketing community. Frustrated by the resistance, he reportedly told officials, “I will resign, you do whatever you want.”

He further criticized Babar’s current batting performance, claiming that his technique has faltered and that he has struggled to find form over the past three years. Yousuf suggested that Babar should undergo focused training at the academy before returning to the national team.

Yousuf added that his resignation was initially rejected, but after submitting it three times, it was ultimately accepted.

This is not the first instance of Yousuf speaking critically about Pakistan’s national team. He has previously questioned the continued reliance on senior players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan, stating that the team now requires fresh talent. He emphasized that minor wins against weaker teams are insufficient for building a competitive national squad.
