Flood conditions have intensified across several parts of Pakistan, with authorities reporting high-level flooding at Qadirabad Headworks on the Chenab River following a significant rise in water inflows. The latest development comes after high flood levels were already recorded at Marala and Khanki headworks.
According to flood monitoring authorities in Lahore, water inflow at Qadirabad Headworks has reached 236,000 cusecs, placing the location in the high flood category. Officials continue to closely monitor the river as water levels remain elevated across the Chenab.
On the Ravi River, a moderate flood is continuing at Balloki Headworks, where water discharge has increased to 73,635 cusecs. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation to prevent any emergency.
Elsewhere, low-level flooding persists in the Kabul River at Nowshera, while the Indus River is experiencing low flood conditions at both Kalabagh and Chashma Barrage. In Balochistan, the Lehri River in Sibi Division has also entered the high flood category at Head Gogi, where water discharge has reached 95,913 cusecs.
Rescue officials also confirmed the successful evacuation of five people who became stranded in the Chenab River near Sialkot. The group had travelled for work, but their boat developed a mechanical fault while returning, leaving them trapped until rescue teams safely brought them to shore.
Authorities have also warned of a possible increase in flood risk after heavy rainfall in Indian-administered Kashmir reportedly sent a large volume of water toward Pakistan. As a precaution, high alerts have been issued for Sialkot and Wazirabad, where officials are monitoring river flows and preparing for any further rise in water levels.
Residents living near rivers and low-lying areas have been advised to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel near water bodies, and follow instructions issued by local authorities and disaster management agencies.
