The federal government has announced another increase in petroleum prices, making petrol, high-speed diesel (HSD), and kerosene more expensive across Pakistan from July 23. The latest revision comes on the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and is expected to add further pressure on inflation.
According to the official notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.39 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs327.12 per litre. The increase comes amid continued adjustments in domestic fuel prices linked to international oil market trends.
The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), which is widely used by the transport, logistics, and agriculture sectors, has been raised by Rs7.83 per litre. Following the increase, the new price of diesel stands at Rs375.04 per litre.
The government has also revised the price of kerosene oil, increasing it by Rs7.80 per litre. Consumers will now pay Rs297.17 per litre for kerosene under the latest pricing notification.
The revised fuel prices will take effect from July 23 and are expected to increase transportation and logistics costs across the country. As diesel powers most freight vehicles and agricultural machinery, the latest increase could push up the prices of food, construction materials, and other essential goods.
Economists and market observers believe the fresh hike in petroleum prices may fuel another wave of inflation, placing additional financial pressure on households and businesses already dealing with high living costs. Transporters and industry representatives have repeatedly expressed concerns over rising fuel prices, warning that continued increases could significantly affect supply chains and economic activity.
