Gold prices in Pakistan showed mixed movement on the latest trading day, reflecting ongoing volatility in bullion markets driven by global economic uncertainty and shifting investor sentiment. The per tola rate settled at Rs526,962, while the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams hovered at Rs451,784, indicating relative stability despite recent fluctuations.
Market data revealed that gold rates have experienced sharp swings throughout the past week, highlighting how quickly sentiment can change. On February 12 and 11, prices stood at Rs528,562, before slipping to Rs526,262 on February 10 and further easing to Rs524,762 on February 9 as traders reacted to international cues.
Earlier in the week, prices had climbed notably, touching Rs529,162 on February 4 after dropping as low as Rs514,362 on February 3. Analysts say these dramatic shifts underline how sensitive Pakistan’s bullion market is to global price movements, currency fluctuations, and investor demand for safe-haven assets during uncertain periods.
Rates for other purity levels also reflected the broader trend. Twenty-two karat gold was priced at Rs475,750 per tola, 21-karat at Rs454,125, and 18-karat at Rs389,250. On a gram basis, prices ranged from about Rs40,788 for 22-karat gold down to roughly Rs33,372 for 18-karat, showing proportional adjustments across categories.
Unlike gold, silver prices moved downward, dropping by Rs105 per tola to close at Rs8,219. This divergence between precious metals signals uneven market dynamics, where different commodities respond differently to global pressures such as inflation expectations, interest rate outlooks, and currency strength.
Financial experts note that the Rs800 drop in gold per tola highlights the unpredictable nature of commodity markets at present. Investors are closely monitoring international bullion trends, geopolitical developments, and economic indicators, as these factors will likely determine whether prices stabilize or continue fluctuating in the coming sessions.
