Biryani Shop Closed in Saddar After Fire Safety Violations Found

The Assistant Commissioner of Saddar, accompanied by police officials, conducted an inspection at Hashoo Centre and sealed around 200 shops due to serious safety violations. Among the sealed businesses was a well-known biryani shop.

Assistant Commissioner Rana Safiyan stated that the first-floor shops were closed because the building lacked proper fire safety arrangements. Authorities reported that the biryani shop was operating with three heavy-duty gas cylinders, posing a significant safety risk to staff and visitors.

The AC explained that a notice had been issued to the building management a week earlier, instructing them to resolve the safety concerns. However, officials found no compliance during the follow-up inspection.

In addition to fire hazards, authorities discovered blocked walkways, ongoing illegal compressor work, and hazardous materials, including gas cylinders and chemical thinners, without any safety precautions. These conditions were deemed a threat to public safety.

The AC said the administration had to seal the premises after the management failed to implement safety measures within seven days. He emphasized that actions like these are necessary to enforce safety regulations in commercial buildings.

Officials noted that other shops in the building also posed risks, but the biryani shop drew special attention due to its gas cylinders and high foot traffic. Authorities warned that unsafe operations could lead to accidents if not addressed promptly.

Residents and visitors were urged to remain cautious and report any unsafe conditions in commercial areas to local authorities. The operation serves as a reminder for building managements to comply with fire safety and hazard prevention rules.
