In a recent interview, Perez credited his longevity to a combination of hard work, rest on holidays, early bedtime, daily consumption of aguardiente (a strong liquor), his faith in God, and always keeping Him close to his heart.

Born on May 27, 1909, Perez was married to Ediofina del Rosario Garcia for 60 years until her passing in 1997. Together, they raised 11 children, comprising six sons and five daughters, and eventually welcomed 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Having witnessed significant historical events like two World Wars and the COVID pandemic, Perez’s remarkable journey came to an end, leaving a legacy behind. Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro expressed condolences to Perez’s family and acknowledged his contribution to Venezuela’s Guinness World Record.

Following Perez’s demise, Gisaburo Sonobe of Japan is expected to become the world’s next oldest living man at 112 years old, pending official confirmation from his family, as per Guinness World Records.
