Initially sparking curiosity, she later clarified that this date symbolizes the day she suffered a massive heart attack, describing the 45 minutes during the incident as the most challenging moments of her life.
On National Doctors’ Day, Sushmita shared a heartfelt video on Instagram as part of a Sun Pharma initiative, where she recounted the harrowing experience. She expressed profound gratitude to her doctors, acknowledging them as the reason she could continue her life story. She described the event as her “second birthday,” emphasizing that it was a new beginning given to her by the medical professionals who didn’t give up on her.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Sushmita said, “Today is a day of gratitude. My doctors have given me a second chance at life, and I want to thank them from the top, middle and bottom of my heart.” She dedicated the day and her story to all doctors, highlighting their crucial role in saving lives.
The incident occurred while Sushmita was filming her Disney+ Hotstar show “Aarya” in Jaipur. This marked her comeback to acting after a hiatus, starring in a crime action-thriller series that garnered acclaim.
