The Sindh government has postponed the Sindh Pink Games due to intense heatwave conditions across the province. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of athletes and officials.
According to the Sindh Sports Ministry, the Sindh Pink Games were scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 10. The event was planned in Shaheed Benazirabad, also known as Nawabshah.
The Sindh Pink Games were expected to feature around 1,500 athletes. Participants were set to compete in 21 different sports events. However, extreme weather forced officials to change the schedule.
Sports associations had already requested postponement of the Sindh Pink Games. They raised concerns about health risks due to rising temperatures in the region. After reviewing the situation, authorities agreed to delay the event.
Officials from the Sindh Sports Ministry confirmed that new dates for the Sindh Pink Games will be announced later. They said the decision was necessary due to safety concerns for players and staff.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather continues across most parts of the country. Several regions in Sindh and Balochistan are experiencing severe heatwave conditions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported extremely high temperatures in multiple cities. Turbat is expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius.
Mithi, Jacobabad, and Nawabshah may see temperatures up to 44 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana are likely to reach around 42 degrees Celsius.
In Karachi, temperatures have slightly decreased compared to earlier days. However, the weather remains hot and dry. Temperatures may still reach up to 38 degrees Celsius.
Officials said the heatwave has made outdoor activities difficult. This played a key role in the postponement of the Sindh Pink Games. Safety of participants remains the top priority.
The Sindh government is monitoring the weather situation closely. New dates for the Sindh Pink Games will be finalized once conditions improve.
