Murree Police has announced a detailed security and traffic management plan for Eid ul Azha 2026 to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the popular hill station during the holidays.
District Police Officer Muhammad Raza Tanveer said strict measures will be implemented across Murree during Eid. According to the plan, only families will be allowed to enter Mall Road and several other crowded areas of the city throughout the holiday period.
The DPO confirmed that Section 144 will remain enforced in Murree until May 31, 2026. Under this order, aerial firing, public display of weapons, and other unsafe activities will be completely banned.
Police officials also warned that anyone involved in dangerous activities such as one-wheeling or skating on roads will face immediate arrest under Section 144 regulations. Authorities stated that a strict zero-tolerance policy will be followed against all violations during Eid holidays.
To handle the large number of visitors expected during Eid ul Azha, more than 700 police officers and personnel will be deployed throughout Murree. Officials expect millions of tourists to visit the hill station this year.
According to police records, nearly 70,000 vehicles entered Murree on the third day of Eid last year. Authorities believe tourist traffic could exceed that figure during Eid ul Azha 2026.
Murree police have also introduced a mobile application called “Safe Tourism Murree” to assist visitors. The app will provide real-time traffic information, emergency support, and other helpful updates for tourists.
A special “Text to DPO” feature has also been added, allowing tourists to directly contact the district police officer if needed.
In a travel advisory issued before Eid, police requested tourists to avoid traveling during peak hours, especially on the second and third days of Eid. Drivers were also advised to carefully check vehicle conditions, including brakes and tires, before traveling on hilly roads.
Officials stated that all arrangements have been completed to provide tourists and families with a safe and secure environment during the Eid holidays.
