Managing Director of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Muhammad Ahsan Younus, on Sunday announced a major digital public safety upgrade introduced under Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The initiative centers around a panic button system, along with smart applications designed to ensure instant emergency response, improved coordination with authorities, and faster assistance for citizens. The system also includes integration with educational institutions to widen its reach.
Speaking to a local news channel, he said the PSCA has developed multilingual features so people from diverse backgrounds can easily access and understand the platform. He emphasized that the system has been built with a simple, user-friendly interface, ensuring that citizens can seek help without facing language or communication barriers.
He explained that the panic button is the core feature of the initiative, allowing users to immediately connect with the emergency helpline 15. Through this system, individuals can share their live location and receive quick assistance during emergencies. The integration of smart apps further enhances the service by enabling real-time video support, ensuring authorities can respond more effectively in critical situations.
He added that the network includes additional tools aimed at strengthening emergency management and improving overall public safety across Punjab. These features are designed to ensure swift coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies, creating a faster and more efficient response system.
Younus praised the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stating that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to using modern technology to enhance public safety. He concluded by urging citizens to stay informed about the panic button system and use it effectively to get timely help during emergencies.
