A weak weather system continues to influence conditions across Punjab, bringing dust-filled winds, thunderstorms, and scattered rainfall to various parts of the province. Weather experts expect more rain in Lahore and several other districts today, providing further relief from the recent spell of intense heat.
The rainfall received over the past few days has significantly lowered temperatures in many areas, especially in Lahore. Residents have experienced comparatively cooler and more comfortable weather after days of high temperatures and humid conditions.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius on Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius during the day. The department has also predicted the possibility of additional dust storms and rain in the city.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, and isolated hailstorms in different parts of Punjab. Authorities expect rainfall to continue in most districts through today.
Districts likely to receive showers include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad. Rain is also forecast in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and Mandi Bahauddin.
In addition, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and surrounding regions are expected to experience wet weather conditions. Provincial authorities have directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain alert and monitor the situation closely under instructions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
WASA Lahore has also instructed field teams to stay prepared for possible urban flooding or drainage issues. The PDMA has advised citizens to avoid open areas during thunderstorms, seek shelter during lightning, and exercise caution during strong winds and dust storms. Farmers and tourists traveling to northern regions have also been urged to take necessary safety measures.
