Education boards across Punjab have revised and increased registration and related fees for matric students of Classes 9 and 10 for the academic session 2026–28, citing financial pressures as the main reason for the adjustment.
All nine boards in Punjab have officially launched the matric registration process. Students are allowed to submit their registration forms with the normal fee up to June 8.
Under the updated fee structure, the total registration cost has been set at Rs. 2,350. This includes a registration fee of Rs. 1,150, a processing charge of Rs. 870, and a sports fee of Rs. 300.
Students who fail to meet the initial deadline will still have the opportunity to register between June 9 and June 23, but they will be required to pay an additional late fee of Rs. 600.
Alongside registration changes, the boards have also revised charges for other academic services. Corrections in student personal details will be permitted until October 31 for a fee of Rs. 750, while submissions after this date will cost Rs. 1,250.
Similarly, students wishing to change subjects can do so until October 31 by paying Rs. 2,400, which increases to Rs. 2,900 after the deadline. The migration fee has also been set at Rs. 4,800.
For registration purposes, students must submit a B-Form along with their father’s national identity card.
The decision has sparked concerns among teachers and parents, many of whom believe the rising costs will put additional financial pressure on already struggling families, particularly those with limited income sources.
