PSL 11 Records 1.1 Billion Views but Faces Sharp Drop in Engagement

The Pakistan Super League has released mid-season digital figures for PSL 11. The league reported 1.1 billion views and over 2 billion minutes watched after 22 matches.

However, the data shows a clear decline in engagement compared to last season. PSL 11 reached the same 1.1 billion views milestone much later than before. This raises concerns about falling per-match viewership.

Officials stated that PSL 11 needed 22 matches to reach the figure. In comparison, PSL 10 achieved the same number in only 12 matches. This highlights a sharp slowdown in audience growth.

Major Drop in Per-Match Viewership

The average viewership per match has also fallen significantly in PSL 11. This season, the average stands at around 50 million views per game. Last year, it was nearly 91.7 million.

This represents a drop of about 45 percent. The decline is notable despite strong overall digital numbers.

Analysts say PSL 11 is struggling to maintain consistent audience engagement. The slower momentum has raised questions about tournament planning and execution.

Reduced Venues and Fan Access Impact PSL 11

The 2026 season of PSL 11 was originally planned as a larger competition. It was expected to feature eight teams and matches across six cities.

However, the tournament was later reduced to only Lahore and Karachi. Planned matches in Peshawar and Faisalabad were cancelled before the season began.

Fans were also not allowed to attend stadiums. Ticket refunds were issued, and the in-person experience was significantly reduced.

Officials linked the changes to a fuel crisis and regional conditions. However, the decision affected the atmosphere and visibility of PSL 11.

Scheduling Irregularities Affect Competition Flow

The schedule of PSL 11 has also faced criticism for inconsistency. Some teams had long gaps between matches, while others played multiple games in a short span.

For example, Peshawar Zalmi played matches on March 28 and March 31, with one game abandoned. Their next match came only on April 8.

Later, the team played four matches within a short period. This uneven scheduling has impacted rhythm and fan experience in PSL 11.

Player Issues Add to Tournament Challenges

Player availability has also affected PSL 11. One major case involved Blessing Muzarabani, who received a two-year ban over contractual issues and conflicting commitments.

This incident highlighted challenges in retaining international players during the season. It also raised concerns about competition stability.

PSL 11 Faces Pressure to Rebuild Momentum

Despite strong total digital numbers, PSL 11 is showing signs of reduced engagement per match. Venue cuts, scheduling gaps, and player issues have all contributed.
