A major undercover investigation in the United Kingdom has uncovered serious allegations involving immigration advisers and legal fixers. They are accused of helping migrants create fake asylum cases by posing as gay individuals.
The report claims that some migrants were coached to build false asylum stories. Many were allegedly told to claim they would face danger if returned to their home countries. The findings have raised serious concerns in the UK immigration system.
According to investigators, some migrants whose visas were close to expiry were offered fake asylum packages. These included prepared cover stories, false letters, staged photographs, and fabricated medical records.
The investigation found that Pakistan was the most frequently linked nationality in such cases. Pakistani nationals accounted for 42 percent of asylum claims based on sexual orientation in 2023. However, they made up only 6 percent of total asylum applications that year.
UK Report Highlights Rising Concerns Over Abuse of System
The report also stated that Pakistani nationals have remained the largest group in such claims for five consecutive years. This has placed Pakistan at the center of debate over potential misuse of the UK asylum system.
Undercover reporters posed as students from Pakistan and Bangladesh. They were allegedly advised that claiming to be gay was the easiest way to remain in the UK. Some advisers reportedly described it as a common and widely used method.
In one case, an adviser allegedly offered a full fake asylum package. It included fabricated LGBT event photos, written statements, and even a fake partner to support the claim.
The investigation also found claims of high fees being charged. Some advisers reportedly demanded up to £7,000, equal to around Rs. 26 lakh, for arranging false asylum cases.
UK Authorities Respond to Serious Allegations
The United Kingdom Home Office has strongly responded to the findings. Officials warned that anyone abusing the asylum system would face strict legal action, including deportation.
Politicians in the UK have also called for criminal investigations. They demanded action against lawyers and advisers involved in immigration fraud.
The report further revealed that nearly two-thirds of asylum claims based on sexual orientation were approved at the initial stage in 2023. This high approval rate may have encouraged misuse, according to investigators.
In some cases, migrants were allegedly advised to obtain fake medical documents. They were told to pretend to suffer from depression or other conditions to strengthen their claims. One case even involved a false HIV claim.
