The 1st T20I between Australia and Pakistan at the Gabba has faced delays due to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain affecting the Brisbane area.
Although the match was initially scheduled to begin on time, dark skies and an intense thunderstorm just before the toss have disrupted proceedings. Fans in and around the stadium have reported loud thunder and nearby lightning. Frank Zane, a local resident, commented, “That was the loudest thunderclap I’ve ever heard… the sky over the Gabba is all dark. Sadly, I don’t see a lot of cricket on the cards tonight.”

Ground staff are actively monitoring weather updates, with heavy rain expected to persist throughout the evening. The latest possible start time for a reduced five-over match has been suggested as 8:30 pm local time. However, weather trackers, like local resident Jack, predict the storm may linger around Brisbane for an extended period.
While fans remain hopeful for a shortened game, they understand that weather conditions might lead to a complete washout. As of now, the Gabba remains covered, and the toss is still delayed. If the weather clears, the Pakistan tour of Australia may kick off later than expected, but for now, both players and fans must wait for the storm to pass.
