Sindh government has officially announced four public holidays for Eid-ul-Azha 2026, giving residents across the province an extended festive break. According to the official notification, all government offices and institutions in Sindh will remain closed from May 26 to May 29.
The decision means citizens will enjoy a longer Eid holiday period this year, allowing families more time to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with relatives and friends. The announcement has been welcomed by many employees and residents across the province.
The notification issued by the Sindh government stated that May 26, 27, 28, and 29, corresponding to Tuesday through Friday, will be observed as public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, which falls from 9th to 12th Zil Hajj 1447 AH.
The holidays will apply to all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils working under the administrative control of the Sindh government. However, essential services and departments involved in preparations for the 2026-27 budget will continue functioning during the holiday period.
Earlier, the federal government had announced three Eid holidays from May 26 to May 28 across Pakistan. However, the Sindh government extended the break by adding an extra holiday on May 29, giving provincial employees and residents an additional day off.
With the extended schedule, people in Sindh are expected to enjoy a longer festive period compared to several other parts of the country. The announcement is also likely to increase travel activity as many families may use the extra holiday for visiting relatives or returning to their hometowns for Eid celebrations.
Authorities are expected to issue additional arrangements regarding transport, security, cleanliness, and public services ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to manage the increased movement of people during the holiday period.
