The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has announced plans to launch a Sightseeing Double-Decker Bus Service in Islamabad, aimed at boosting tourism in the capital city. The service, set to begin in January 2025, will be a joint venture between PTDC and the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP). The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to make tourism a key driver of Pakistan’s economic growth.

During a briefing to stakeholders on Wednesday, PTDC Managing Director Aftabur Rehman Rana provided details of the new service. The double-decker buses will offer guided tours twice a day, providing tourists with a unique opportunity to explore Islamabad’s major landmarks and attractions. The service will also include a convenient pick-up and drop-off from all major hotels in the city.
Rana emphasized that the government is committed to promoting tourism as a vital sector for the country’s development. This new initiative aims to give visitors a memorable experience while helping to showcase the cultural and historical significance of the capital.
Looking ahead, PTDC plans to expand the program in its second phase, collaborating with the private sector. Weekend sightseeing tours will be introduced to some of the surrounding tourist sites, including Taxila, Rohta Fort, Ketas Raj, and Murree, among others.
